Early Childhood Lead Teacher Job Description

Essential Job Functions: 

Discipleship/Ministry Relationship

  • Demonstrate a growing relationship with Jesus through regular participation in the life of the church (worship, service, growth, etc). 

  • Communicates with the Preschool Director on a regular basis to understand how they can best serve and contribute to an excellent preschool experience. 

 

Classroom Teaching/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following

  • Supervise the care and education of a group of children as assigned, providing constant supervision and maintaining appropriate child to adult ratios at all times. 

  • Maintain all operational requirements for a safe and healthy licensed child care center, with a developmentally appropriate Christian program. 

  • Maintain up-to-date records as required. 

  • Care for the classroom environment, maintaining a safe, clean and healthy place for the children. 

  • Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy playground and indoor play areas. 

  • Assist in curriculum development and assure that the selected curriculum is implemented. Provide lesson plans to the Director/Assistant Director. (A starting point for Bible and other curriculum is already provided). 

  • Assist in the selection, training, and supervision of teacher aid as required. 

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents and families. Recognize the needs of individual families, and when appropriate, provide necessary assistance or referrals. Keep families informed of current GLCC activities, staff changes, field trips, special events, etc. 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working with young children in a formal setting. 

  • Training in early childhood education, and/or the commitment to obtain training as mandated by the state. 

  • CDA, Degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent desirable, but not necessary. 

  • Current First Aid and Infant/Child CPR certification, or the commitment to obtain such. 

  • Active in a local Christian church. 

  • Ability to perform physical duties of the job without limitations. 

  • Must be at least 18 years old. 

  • Must obtain state mandated fingerprinting, and criminal background check.

Monday through Friday, 6:30am - 6:00pm
